Two 15-year-olds die in apparent Benadryl overdose

Clarksville Police Department is investigating an infant's death by gunshot, an incident which occurred on Feb. 25.

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is investigating after two Oak Plains Academy students died in an apparent overdose on over-the-counter medication at the Ashland City school.

Authorities say two females were found unconscious and unresponsive, and transported to medical facilities, One was pronounced dead at the Sango Emergency Room, the second child was taken to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital where she later died, according to a sheriff's office release.

Investigators determined on the night of Nov. 28, two females were able to make entry through the bottom of a door in the nurse's station and gain access to a bottle and several blister packs of Benadryl.

Through the course of the night and into the morning, authorities said the teens took an undetermined amount of what they believe to be Benadryl, the release stated.

During morning classes on Nov. 29, both females became ill and fell unconscious. Oak Plains staff responded and provided CPR until emergency personnel arrived.
