- Breaking news from Southeast Houston, where police say a 15-year-old girl was shot and killed in Southeast Houston.

- Yeah it is just awful. There are a lot of questions surrounding her death right now. ABC 13's Courtney Fischer joins us now live near where this happened at South Green near Almeda Genoa. Just an awful situation, Courtney.

COURTNEY FISCHER: Yeah and unfortunately right now Steven, the details are very hazy about what happened. So here's what we know. We know that this 15-year-old girl was killed. We know that her brother at some point was with her and had a gun. We know that she was shot. But we don't know the circumstances of how all of this went down.

So I'm going to show you some video overnight. This is of the apartment complex which is right behind me here off of South Green's drive, not far from 45 and Fuqua. Police say that this 15-year-old girl was known to run away. Her mom and stepfather had been looking for her for a few days, and it was her brother and his girlfriend who found her at these apartments. Here's police.

- When they found her, the brother came back to this location. He had a pistol, was holding the 15-year-old girl, assuming trying to keep her from running away, scaring her, I'm not sure. We're still trying to locate him.

Went to one of the apartments over here, and was asking one of the tenants to get her property. Evidently she had some things there. Got that stuff and then was leaving. The individuals in that apartment heard a pop.

COURTNEY FISCHER: Now investigators say after hearing that pop, other neighbors also told police they heard someone say quote, Oh my God, why did you do that? We want to know who, of course said that. Police are looking for this brother. Earlier we had said they were talking to him. They actually haven't found him yet, they would like to talk with him and the girlfriend. Again, that he was the one who had the gun and found his sister.

So as soon as we get more information about how all of this happened. But just a tragic situation with that 15-year-old girl shot and killed overnight. For now I'm reporting live, Courtney Fischer, ABC 13 Eyewitness News.
