15-year-old student arrested for possession of a firearm at Caprock High School

A Caprock student was arrested Monday morning after being in possession of a firearm on campus.

The Amarillo Police Department was informed that a student had a gun on campus. APD School Resource Officers and Caprock High School staff immediately located and detained the 15-year-old student. A weapon was located in the student’s possession.

The juvenile was arrested and will be booked into the Youth Center of the High Plains.

APD says in a news release: "Reports involving schools are always taken seriously and fully investigated. If you or your child sees or hears something concerning, we encourage you to immediately reach out to your local law enforcement agency with that information."
