I'm from Florida.

It's cold.

So I wrote about soup this week. You're welcome.

Also this week, three Louisville-area restaurants made Yelp's Top 100 Restaurants list! So tell that to anyone who says Louisville isn't a foodie city.

15 places to get soup around Louisville — Brasserie Provence serves a popular, classic French onion soup, topped with fresh gruyere and mozzarella cheese. Check's Cafe has been serving its famous chili since 1944, and there's nothing like a steaming bowl of pho from Pho Ba Luu. Here are 15 places to try.

50 gallons of soup a day Unlike restaurants that serve a couple of soups, Soupy's specializes in soup and has served more than 2 million cups of soup since it opened in 1995. The place is still open and still serves 50-plus gallons of soup a day each winter.

5 kitchen remodel tips — New year, new kitchen. Columnist Dana McMahan is working on several renovations in apartment buildings in Old Louisville and a Victorian house in Beechmont and has some helpful suggestions on how to tackle large projects like this without screaming (much).

Mexican street food — You probably can list a dozen Mexican restaurants off the top of your head — but is Cravings Byanca one of them? This Mexican eatery in Crestwood is easy to miss if you're not specifically looking for it. Some people call it "the little taco hut," and it sells everything from quesadillas to tamalas and nachoes and guacamole, everything cooked by family members using matriarch Blanca Lemus' recipes.

Downtown Thai food — The food truck All Thai'd Up is opening a shop in downtown Louisville AND the food truck is sticking around. Owner Kathy Aphaivongs said she can't wait to expand her menu to include even more authentic Thai dishes she grew up eating in Bangkok, Thailand.
