15 Thoughts I Had About the Trailer for Camila Cabello's Cinderella

Okay, I am a Cinderella-starring-Brandy purist, but that doesn't mean I'm not excited for the Camila Cabello-led revival of the Disney cartoon. (I am human, after all.) The new Cinderella trailer came out today, with the Kay Cannon-directed movie itself due out on September 3, and obviously, musings were mused. Watch the full trailer, and see all the thoughts it inspired, below:

  1. "Dresses by Ella" are Cinderella's first onscreen words, and she's surrounded by mannequins in gowns, leading me to believe that she's...a designer? Okay, Cruella vibes! All the Disney girls are in fashion now!

  2. Oh, damn, the whole town (which, it should be said, looks a lot more diverse than the original—kudos) laughs at Cinderella for "fancying herself a businessman."

  3. Camila Cabello's bangs are giving it their all in this trailer, I must say.

  4. Is the Evil Stepmother's mansion in L.A.? It looks suspiciously like one of the giant, fancy houses in Hancock Park.

  5. OMG, Idina Menzel!

  6. NOT Prince Charming with a little hoop in his ear to indicate that he's cool and rebellious. Hot, I must admit!

  7. Idina's veiled fascinator is giving The Hunger Games' Effie Trinket a run for her money. Also, she hurls ink on Cinderella's carefully constructed gown, which is super-mean but also kind of iconic.

  8. Billy Porter as Cinderella's fairy godmother is simply too delicious.

  9. Not buying these CGI mice at all. Do better, Sony.

  10. Must James Corden be in this?

  11. I smell many dance numbers, and I predict I will fawn over every one. Sorry.

  12. "I don't want a life stuck waving from a royal box any more than a life confined to a basement," announces CEO Cinderella, who clearly loves the prince, but has nonetheless taken a page out of Meghan Markle's book and turned her back on royal life.

  13. Perfect, exceptionally cottage-core moment of Cinderella running through a verdant green forest dressed in billowing white.

  14. The proverbial glass slippers have been updated to be extremely glittery, and TBH, I love them.

  15. There are actually some funny-seeming jokes in this reboot! Can't wait to watch it hungover on a random Sunday.
