16,000-Square-Foot 9/11 Memorial Quilt Displayed in Staten Island for 20th Anniversary

A massive memorial quilt was put on display at the Staten Island campus of St John’s University as part of events to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

The university said “75 members of the St John’s family” died in the attacks in 2001.

This footage shows the 16,000-square-foot quilt. Each panel is dedicated to one of the 2,977 victims of the attacks.

More than 3,000 volunteers from 17 countries helped to make the quilt. It has been on display throughout the United States, the school said in a statement. This marks the third time the quilt has been displayed at the Staten Island campus.

The display coincides with a number of events scheduled at the Queens and Staten Island campuses to “prayerfully mark the passage of two decades since the day that changed the university and the world,” according to St John’s. Credit: MLM Public Relations via Storyful
