16-year-old girl dies in crash involving three teenagers near New Holstein; crash still under investigation

NEW HOLSTEIN - Three 16-year-olds were involved in a fatal crash Thursday morning in the town of New Holstein, the Calumet County Sheriff's Office said.

First responders were dispatched shortly before 7:30 a.m. Thursday to the intersection of Foundry Road and Plymouth Trail. They found an eastbound Chrysler sedan hit a Buick sedan going south. Both vehicles went into the ditch.

A 16-year-old girl from the town of New Holstein was driving with a 16-year-old boy in the Chrysler, while the Buick had one 16-year-old boy from the city of New Holstein.

The Chrysler driver died at the scene. The Buick driver and the Chrysler passenger were taken to local hospitals with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The girl attended New Holstein High School. Police said the district was providing counselors to students, their families and staff.

The crash is under investigation. Police did not identify any of the victims in their initial news release.
