16 Rogers County athletes land on OSCA All-State teams

Jun. 6—Rogers County athletes have garnered well-deserved recognition as they were named to the prestigious Oklahoma Soccer Coaches Association All-State teams.

These talented individuals have showcased their skills and contributed significantly to their respective teams throughout the season, earning them a place among the best in the state.

Among the notable selections, Kinley Daniels from Claremore was named as a defender in the Class 5A East Girls All-State team, while Tate Hepler represented the Zebras as a midfielder in the Class 5A East Boys All-State team.

Oologah's Dallie Hill and Kayden Wadsworth were honored as forwards in the Class 4A East Girls All-State team, along with Hans Cagle and Logan Eubanks, who were named forwards in the Class 4A East Boys All-State team. Nathan Yang and Arturo Garcia from Catoosa secured spots as a defender and a goalkeeper, respectively, in the Class 4A East Boys All-State team.

Verdigris' Lillian Adams exhibited exceptional goalkeeping skills, earning her the position of goalkeeper in the Class 3A East Girls All-State team. Abagayle Barnes and Courtney Wickham, also from Verdigris, were recognized as forwards and defenders, respectively, in the same category.

Jayden White from Sequoyah was selected as a forward in the Class 3A East Girls All-State team, while Anna Hibbard represented Inola as a midfielder.

In the Class 3A East Boys All-State team, Rushton Williams from Verdigris and Dean Culp and Dylan Piguet from Sequoyah were named as a forward, midfielder and forward, respectively.

These exceptional athletes will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in games that will take place at Carl Albert High School in Midwest City on June 9 and 10. The schedule includes Class 5A games on Friday, with the girls match at 6 p.m. and the boys match at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, the Class 4A girls match will take place at 11 a.m., followed by the boys match at 1 p.m. The Class 3A games will conclude the event, with the girls match at 6 p.m. and the boys match at 8 p.m.

Tickets for the event are priced at $10, while children who are not school-aged can attend for free. This will undoubtedly be an exciting opportunity for soccer enthusiasts to witness the exceptional talent of these All-State athletes from Rogers County.

As the tournament approaches, it is worth noting the season records of the teams with All-State selections.

Claremore's girls team finished the season with a 5-8 record, narrowly losing to McAlester 1-0 in overtime during the first round of the Class 5A playoffs. The Claremore boys team ended the season with a 4-8 record and did not qualify for the Class 5A state tournament.

Oologah's girls team had an impressive season, finishing with an 11-5 record. The Lady Mustangs had a strong showing but unfortunately fell short in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs with a 1-0 loss to Pryor. The Oologah boys team had a 6-8 record and did not qualify for the Class 4A state tournament.

Catoosa's boys team finished the season with a 9-6 record, facing a tough loss of 2-0 to Fort Gibson in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.

Sequoyah's girls team had a successful season, ending with a 13-5 record. The Lady Eagles secured victories over Verdigris and Victory Christian in the Class 3A playoffs but narrowly lost to OCS on penalty kicks in the semifinals. On the other hand, the Sequoyah boys team had a 4-10 record and did not qualify for the Class 3A state tournament.

Verdigris' girls team finished the season with a 6-7 record and faced a defeat of 3-0 against Sequoyah in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs. The Verdigris boys team had a 5-7 record and suffered a 4-1 loss to Rejoice Christian in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs.

Inola's girls team had a 5-6 record and did not qualify for the Class 3A state tournament.

The inclusion of these talented Rogers County athletes in the OSCA All-State teams serves as a testament to their dedication and skill on the soccer field.

Their achievements not only bring pride to their respective schools but also demonstrate the depth of talent within the county.
