17-month-old girl is one of the victims hospitalized after Odessa shooting

LUBBOCK, Texas – A spokesperson with the UMC Health System in Lubbock confirmed that a 17-month-old victim of the shootings in Midland and Odessa was flown to Lubbock Saturday.

The hospital confirmed it was a girl who was “satisfactory” condition as of 8:40 p.m. CT

No other victims were transported to UMC from the shooting.

After the news of the shooting, UMC brought in surgical teams with the expectation that as many as five or six victims could come from the shooting.

Authorities say at least five people were killed and 21 injured in the Midland-Odessa rampage, which began after a routine traffic stop. Three officers were among the wounded.

Russell Tippin, CEO of Medical Health Systems hospital in Odessa, said 13 shooting victims were being cared for at the facility. He declined to give their ages.

"If you hear my voice, you need to hug your families," he said during a press conference in front of the hospital.
