These 17 restaurants just opened around the Sacramento region in November

November brought Sacramento County’s first Burmese restaurant, a groundbreaking Mexican-Japanese oyster bar and the arrival of a hotly-anticipated midtown Sacramento dumpling hub.

These 17 new restaurants opened across the Sacramento region in November 2023.

Only three of the new restaurants opened in Sacramento proper — one downtown, and two in midtown. Three more opened in Folsom, while two debuted in Elk Grove and Placerville and Roseville, El Dorado Hills, Davis, Camino, Lincoln, Granite Bay and Fair Oaks added one apiece.

AT Thai Kitchen (711 E. Bidwell St., Suite 5, Folsom): Get your boat noodle soup, “Triple S” pompano (sweet, sour and spicy) or Gunther’s Ice Cream fix at this new Thai restaurant in Commonwealth Square shopping center.

Big Island Burritos (3600-B Carson Road, Camino): Owned by the same people as Hawaii-based Tropics Ale House, which has a nearby taproom and restaurant, Big Island Burritos stuffs its mega-burritos with kalua pork or huli-huli chicken.

Blend (4357 Town Center Blvd., Suite 112, El Dorado Hills): Protein shakes and açaí bowls rule at this neon-lit, health-conscious kava bar and cafe in the El Dorado Hills Town Center.

Jersey Mike’s (3964 Missouri Flat Road, Placerville): The New Jersey-based sub sandwich chain added its newest location in Prospector’s Plaza southwest from central Placerville along Highway 50.

Omakase Por Favor (640 Twelve Bridges Drive, Lincoln): Jeana Marie Pecha’s high-end concept, which began as a pop-up, blends Japanese and coastal Mexican flavors for dishes such as caviar on sturgeon “chicharrónes” or tuna tostadas with ponzu.

Outpost Burger (330 G St., Davis): Oklahoma-style onion smashburgers are the main draw, along with loaded hot dogs and fries, at this downtown all-American food joint from the owners of The Burger Saloon in Woodland.

Purple Kow (1821 Douglas Blvd., Suite C8, Roseville): This San Francisco-based boba shop opened Nov. 25 in Placer Center Plaza shopping center, with snacky bites such as sweet potato fries, chicken wings and spicy noodles tossed in housemade soy sauce.

Streetzlan (9080 Laguna Main St., Elk Grove): Galt’s most eclectic restaurant expanded north to Elk Grove’s Main Street Plaza on Nov. 25, where it’ll continue serving Cali-Mex creations such as loaded carnitas fries or the “avocado slayer” (black bean purée, green apples, Serrano peppers and crushed wasabi on a tostada).

The Lock & Key Tapas + Bar (2718 J St., Sacramento): Will Walton’s Spanish-influenced New American restaurant and cocktail lounge replaced The Red Rabbit Kitchen & Bar with dishes small and large, from housemade empanadas to fideos champiñones (fusilli pasta with beech mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and spinach pesto).

Wetzel’s Pretzels (414 K St., Sacramento): A salt-covered mall and airport staple, Wetzel’s Pretzels made its Downtown Commons debut thanks to franchisee Ben Elias.
