19 of the Rochester area's hottest food, wine and beer events in August

Even though the evenings are getting cooler and the days are getting shorter, there's still time to savor summer at food and drink events planned for August. It bears reminding that the events can be called off if there's inclement weather, so it's best to double check social media if the forecast is questionable.

Here are food, wine and beer events to consider for your calendar:

Puerto Rican Festival: Aug. 3 to 5 at Innovation Field. Enjoy live music, food, cultural events and more. Admission is free for everyone on Thursday and again from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Children ages 5 and younger are admitted free all three days. Ticket prices vary for the rest of the weekend; find more information at facebook.com/PRFEST/.

Casa Larga Patio Party: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 3, 10, 17, 24, 31. Live music, vineyard views, food trucks. $15 includes a glass of wine, beer, or sangria. Bring a chair. casalarga.com.

Phelps Sauerkraut Weekend: Aug. 3 to 6 at various sites around Phelps, Ontario County. Head to the former sauerkraut capital of the world for food (with and without sauerkraut), live music, kids' activities and more. Find more information on Facebook.

Lincoln Hill Farms BrewFest 2023: Sat., Aug. 5 at Lincoln Hill Farms, 3792 Route 247 in Canandaigua. Enjoy craft beers from from the Finger Lakes and beyond along with live music. $70 in advance, $90 at the door. lincolnhillfarms.com.

Movies at the Orchard: 8 p.m. Aug. 5 and 19 at Doyle Farms, a farm stand and café at 10917 Ridge Road in Wolcott, Wayne County. Family-friendly films are projected on a 25-foot screen constructed out of apple bins. Nibble on homemade baked goods and ice cream, as well as traditional movie snacks, as you enjoy the outdoor movie. Advance tickets are $6, tickets at the door $7. Kids nine and under free. 29th Annual Fox Run Glorious Garlic Festival: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 5 and 6 at the Geneva Lakefront. Music, arts, crafts, garlicky (and non-garlicky) food, cooking demonstrations, wine and beer. Area restaurants will have special garlic menu. genevadowntown.com/garlicfest.

Sodus Rolling Stoves: 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 7 and 21 at Sodus Fireman's Field, 48 Mill St. in Sodus. More than a dozen food trucks and food vendors as well as craft vendors and live entertainment. waynecountytourism.com.

Midday Bash: 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 9 and 23, at Parcel 5, 285 E. Main St. downtown. Rotating lineup of food trucks as well as live music, games and other activities. Free admission. rochesterdowntown.com.

FLX Fermentation Fest: Aug. 12 and 13 at RMSC Cumming Nature Center, 6472 Gulick Road in Naples, Ontario County. Family activities and instructional workshops from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; $28 for adults, $10 for ages 3 to 18. A choice of two in-depth workshops Sunday: $60 for Infinite Fermentation from 9 to 11 a.m. or $120 for Intro to Cheesemaking from noon to 4 p.m. Buy tickets at rmsc.org.

Carifest: 1 to 8 p.m. Aug. 12 at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 353 Court St. Live music, Jamaican food and vendors. $15 admission. Parade begins at the corner of Broad and Plymouth at 11 a.m.

Spencerport German Festival: 5 to 11 p.m. Aug. 12 at Spencerport Firemen's Field, 75 South Union St. in Spencerport. German food, German music, German dancers. $6 for adults; children 12 and under free with paid adult. More at rochestergerman.org.

Park at Firemen's Field (Maple Street just south of Adams Street), all municipal lots, and Main Street. Bring a camp chair. No outside alcohol permitted. victormusicfoodfestival.com.

Avon Rotary Corn Festival: Aug. 12 on the grounds of Avon High School, 245 Clinton St. in Avon, Livingston County. Food court; beer garden; corn on the cob eating contest; arts & crafts. Three stages of live music culminates with a concert by the Skycoasters at 7 p.m. More at avonrotary.org.

Garden Party Fundraiser: 6 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at New York Kitchen, 800 S. Main St., Canandaigua. An evening of local fare, award-winning wines and regional craft beverages and live music. $125 per person.

Flower City Brewers Fest: 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Rochester Public Market, 280 N. Union St. Craft beer samples, food vendors, live music. $50 general admission, $10 designated driver. More at flourcitybrewersfest.com.
