18 can't-miss food, wine and beer events in September in Rochester and the Finger Lakes

September is a time for farm-to-table dinners, wine harvest celebrations, Oktoberfests and the last of the seasonal festivals. Here are some of the more promising food, beer and wine events of the season.

Gardeners Meet & Greet with Good Food: 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Sofrito Garden at 227 N. Union St. A meet-up for Rochester gardeners hosted by Food for the Spirit and Genesee Valley Black Farmers Collective members, part of Uplifting Rochester BIPOC Gardeners Weekend.

Webster Garlic Fest: Sept. 9 and 10 at Webster Recreation Center, 1350 Chiyoda Drive, Webster. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. $5 per day at the door. Food trucks and vendors, demonstrations, craft vendors and family fun. webstergarlicfest.com.

Intimate Lunch with Chef Erwin Schröttner: 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Chateau Frank at Dr. Konstantin Frank winery, 9683 Middle Road, Hammondsport. $125. Austrian Food & Wine Celebration: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 16 at Chateau Frank at Dr. Konstantin Frank winery, 9683 Middle Road, Hammondsport. Farm-to-table dinner: 6 p.m. Sept. 17, at Sourced Market and Eatery, 12195 Maple Ridge Road in Medina, Orleans County. The restaurant, which focuses on local, organic and sustainable produce and food, will team up with Arrowhead Spring Vineyards of Lockport, Niagara County. $95 includes gratuity and wine pairings. Midday Bash: 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at Parcel 5, 285 E. Main St. downtown. Food trucks, live music, games and other activities. Free admission. rochesterdowntown.com.

Seeing Red: 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, on Linden Street in downtown Geneva. $35 includes commemorative wine tote and wine glass. The fifth event in the summer's Linden Wine series focuses on red wines from the Finger Lakes. Live music, vendors, specials at local restaurants and bars. lindenwineseries.com.

Tastin' the Blues: Noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Penfield Amphitheater and Kiwanis Stage at Veterans Memorial Park, behind Penfield Town Hall at 3100 Atlantic Ave., Penfield. Free admission. Live music, food concessions, local beer samples, chili contest. penfield.org.

Naples Grape Festival, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 23 and 24 at the Naples Memorial Hall Park on Main Street in Naples. Wine, food, arts, crafts, local/regional live music, World's Greatest Grape Pie Contest. Park at Hazlitt Red Cat Cellars ($5) and take a free shuttle to the festival. naplesgrapefest.org, (585) 374-2240.

Autumnal Harvest Wine Dinner: 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at Carnegie Cellars, 247 N. Goodman St. Chef Steven Lara will present a 5-course dinner featuring some of the area's best produce along with old-world wines. $105. carnegiecellars.com, (585) 206-8611.

Food Truck Rodeo: 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the Rochester Public Market, 280 N. Union St. Live music by Big Blue House. Parking is limited. Take folding tables and chairs.  Free admission. cityofrochester.gov/foodtruckrodeo.

Fairport Oktoberfest: Sept. 28 through 30, Fairport Junction Festival Site, Liftbridge Lane East, Fairport. Opens at 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday. German Cuisine from Swan Market, beer, a combination of German music and rock bands. $10 after 4 p.m. fairportpartnership.org.

Harvest dinner: 6:30 p.m. Fridays, Sept. 29 and Oct. 27, at Fox Run Vineyards, 670 Route 14 in Penn Yan. Five-course meal paired with Fox Run wines. Winemakers Craig Hosbach and Angie Lawler, along with chef Brud Holland, will guide the evening in the winery's historic barrel room. $125 plus tax and gratuity. foxrunvineyards.com, (315) 536-4616.
