18-year-old Daytona Beach man dies after crashing into semi-truck on Interstate 95

An 18-year-old Daytona Beach man died after crashing into a semi-truck parked on Interstate 95 near Ormond Beach.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Friday, according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The teen was driving a Kia Forte northbound on Interstate 95, while the semi-truck was parked on the right shoulder of the highway. For "unknown reasons," he ran off into the right shoulder and collided with the rear of the parked truck.

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene, while the semi-truck driver, a 48-year-old man from North Branch, Michigan, was not injured and remained on the scene.

The incident is still under investigation, according to FHP.
