Donuts & Coffey (3291 Truxel Road, Suite 15, Sacramento): Aaron Coffey and Thana Ny opened their second doughnut shop, this one in South Natomas, after old fashioneds and Vietnamese coffee made their original East Sacramento store a fan favorite.

Oaks Sushi & Bowl (2010 Blue Oaks Blvd., Suite 130, Roseville): Bowls include seafood ramen or spicy pork donburi with steamed vegetables; for rolls, try something like the Godzilla (imitiation crab, deep-fried shrimp and cream cheese on the inside, then torched spicy tuna, salmon, hamachi and unagi on top) at this Japanese restaurant in Roseville.

Raw Sushi Bar Lounge (8280 Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove): Quan and My Nguyen’s sleek Japanese restaurant has been whipping up items such as albacore carpaccio, soba noodle salad with sashimi and the SCS Roll (topped with tempura scallops, spicy tuna spring mix, tobiko and avocado) since Aug. 17.

Richmond Cafe (8347 Elk Grove Florin Road, Sacramento): Look for noodle soups, milk teas and peanut butter-stuffed French toast at this Hong Kong-style cafe near the Sacramento/Elk Grove border.

Shabu Shima (9729 Fair Oaks Blvd., Suite A, Fair Oaks): The main attraction here is shabu-shabu, a Japanese style of hot pot where customers cook meats and veggies in bubbling broths over tabletop stoves.

Tapatio’s Taco Shop (5312 Hazel Ave., Fair Oaks): There’s a range of options at this casual Mexican joint, from machaca in the mornings to potato tacos and shrimp tortas.

Tequileros Taqueria (640 Carol Drive, Suite 140, Galt): Mexican food lovers in southern Sacramento County might already know Tequileros’ loaded nachos or heaping al pastor tacos from its Elk Grove food truck, Stockton restaurant or Lodi cantina.

The Char Market (4717 Whitney Ave., Carmichael): Few other restaurants sit near this new barbecue and taco joint, which offers Gunther’s Ice Cream for dessert.
