18-wheeler crashes and spills thousands of pounds of eggs, shuts down Dallas highway

An 18-wheeler crashed and spilled thousands of pounds of eggs in Dallas on Monday morning, shutting down westbound Interstate 30 near downtown during rush hour.

The 18-wheeler hit a bridge near I-30 and Interstate 45 and spilled 35,000 pounds of eggs all over the road, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office told KXAS-TV.

Westbound I-30 is completely shut down as crews work to clean up the eggs, with no information on when it’ll open. Traffic was being diverted to I-45.

Fuel was also leaking onto the road, according to the NBC station. The driver was not injured in the crash.

WFAA-TV reported it’s expected to take hours to clean up the mess.
