Description: The project will be home to 55 senior citizen apartments and a full-time primary care physician office, said Matthew Harrell Sr., president and CEO of APK Development and Construction.

Harrell Sr. says he has a passion for providing affordable housing options for underserved communities. The project will provide senior citizens in the west end of Louisville with physical and occupational therapy services, affordable housing, social services, mental health services, a fitness center, dining services, transportation, community engagement, and a slew of other healthcare needs, according to project concept plans Harrell Sr. shared with The Courier Journal. The facility will be in a gated community and Harrell Sr. expects the project to create about 20 jobs in Louisville.

The project will break ground in the fourth quarter of 2023 and is expected to be completed by September 2024, Harrell Sr. said.

Harrell Sr., a Black man, places an emphasis on "expanding the participation of Black contractors in larger development projects," according to his company's website.
