1911 Indy 500 winning car Marmon Wasp lands at Carmel roundabout
More cars keep coming to Carmel roundabouts. Some are going to be permanent fixtures.
The first of the classic car sculptures going into four of the intersections along 96th Street in Carmel has been installed.

The artwork celebrating the Marmon Wasp greets motorists at 96th Street and Priority Way.
It is among roundabout sculptures in the city’s $2.5 million “Classic Cars of Indiana” project.
The city of Carmel commissioned designer Arlon Bayliss and bo-mar Industries to create sculptures to celebrate classic cars that were designed and built in the state.
The Wasp was the first winner of the Indianapolis 500 in 1911.
Other pieces are planned on 96th Street at roundabout intersections with Delegates Row, Gray Road and Hazel Dell Parkway, celebrating cars manufactured by Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg, Stutz, and Studebaker respectively.
