This is a great chance to get into the vintage SUV market.

In 1980, the final edition of the Midas Van Conversions modifying new Scout IIs at dealers was coming to an end. This partnership gave the Scouts some unique touches throughout, and when you find an example with the Midas dealership customizations, it’s a pretty special occasion. Now available to bid on through Bring A Trailer, this old school off-roader can now join your collection, or become your new favorite daily driver.

Bought by its current owner in 2017, this example was modified before delivery through the Midas Van Conversions of Elkhart, Indiana. The added equipment includes air conditioning, a swiveling captain’s chairs, an AM/FM/eight-track stereo, a removable hardtop, and a roll cage - giving it even more utility than before, which it had plenty of leaving the factory. Powering the vintage SUV is a Nissan turbodiesel 3.2-liter inline-six that’s backed by a four-speed manual transmission, and sends power to a dual-range transfer case.

Finished in Metallic Green with Gray and Orange graphics, this SUV has a hardtop repainted in white. It also sports the acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plastic grille that was found on the final production year Scout II, and has the housed square headlights.

There is light body damage detailed in the ad, which means you can either use it as an easy project to fix up, or leave it as it is so you don’t have to stress over the idea of a buggy bumping into it in a parking lot, or rock flying up from the road.
