Mississippi native and recent University of Alabama grad Wilson Furr remains the man to beat heading into Sunday’s final round of the $1 million AdventHealth Championship golf tournament at Blue Hills Country Club in Kansas City.

Furr shot a 7-under 65 during Saturday’s penultimate round to maintain a two-stroke lead (at 17-under) over second-place golfer Grayson Murray, who was at 15-under after shooting an 8-under 64 on Saturday. That matched Josh Teater, who’s tied for ninth at 10-under, for lowest round of the day.

Murray birdied his final four holes, while Teater had a hole in one during his Saturday round.

Working down the leaderboard, Rico Hoey sits in third place at 14-under, with Alejandro Tosti and Isaiah Salinda at 13-under, respectively.

Korn Ferry Tour rookie Salinda recorded the low round Friday, a bogey-free 65, and shot 67 Saturday.

Furr on Saturday had no bogeys, five birdies and an eagle (on the par-5 sixth). His play all week has been good — on Friday, he set an AdventHealth Championship tournament course record with a 9-under 63.

This is the first 54-hole lead of the 24-year-old pro career. A rookie on the Korn Ferry Tour, he shared the tournament lead after 36 holes with David Skinns, who fell to 10-under Saturday with a third-round 72.

Furr turned pro in 2021 after four year with the Crimson Tide (2017-21). He earned All-SEC first-team honors following his senior season in Tuscaloosa.

His best finish as a pro to date is a tie for seventh at last month’s HomeTown Lenders Championship in Huntsville, Alabama.

The four-day, 72-hole AdventHealth Championship concludes Sunday at Blue Hills. This is the fourth straight year that Blue Hills has played host to the annual Korn Ferry Tour event.

Entrants are competing for a share of this week’s $1 million total purse, as well as coveted spots on the PGA Tour. Defending champion Trevor Cone is now playing on the PGA Tour, as is 2021 winner Cameron Young.

Notable names who did not make the 36-hole cut this week include former PGA players Camilo Villegas, Bo Van Pelt, and Michael Gellerman, who has won here before and grew up in Sterling, Kan.

Single-day tickets to this week’s tournament are $10. Youth (17 and younger), current and former military members and first responders will be admitted free.
