2,895 vote in Taylor County on final early day; 2022 total falls short of 2018

Early voting for the Nov. 8 general election ended Friday with 2,895 turning out to vote in person in Taylor County.

That brought the 12-day total to 24,952.

That total fell short of 2018, though numbers improved over the course of early voting.

Friday marked the seventh straight day that a daily total in this election surpassed the comparable day in 2018.

In 2018, 2,562 voted on the final day, and the 12-day total was 26,121.

After five days, the 2022 votes totaled 11,614, and was 3,068 votes behind 2018's 14,682.

But then the current totals began topping those four years ago. Over the final eight days, 13,338 voted compared 11,439 in 2018.

The improvement was 1,899 votes, but not enough to make up for the slower start.

The biggest daily voting total was Friday.

On Day 2 of this year, 2,580 voted. In 2018, 3,486 voted on the second day.

Here are the final seven days, comparing the two elections:

  • Day 6: 1,665 (2022), 1,619 (2018)
