2-alarm fire in San Jose displaces 7 people, 2 pets

(KRON) — The San Jose Fire Department responded to a two-story apartment complex fire reported in West San Jose Wednesday morning. Three residents were rescued and suffered minor injuries, according to fire officials.

A call for a second alarm at the apartment complex on the 1100 block of Oakmont Drive came minutes after the first report at 10:11 a.m. Three apartments were affected by the blaze, which was under control by 10:41 a.m., SJFD said. The fire was mainly contained to one apartment, with the other two adjacent apartments taking on smoke damage.

Bicyclist fatally struck Tuesday morning in South Bay

A total of seven adults were displaced, along with a cat and a lizard, fire officials said. The Red Cross is coordinating support for those affected. None of the three injured were transported to the hospital by responders.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, officials said.
