2 Anderson County schools win grants

Dutch Valley Elementary and Lake City Elementary recently received grants from Delta Dental of Tennessee for new bottle-filling stations.

The grant will go to replace an existing water fountain with an Elkay bottle filling station. Now in its third year, the Water’s Cool @ School grant program aims to teach kids about the importance of drinking more water and to make it easier for kids to stay properly hydrated during the school day. To date, more than 100 schools across Tennessee have received grants for new bottle-filling stations, according to a news release.

As part of their grant applications, schools were encouraged (but not required) to submit a creative project that highlighted why drinking water is important to health, and students at Lake City did a video, which can be watched here: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=825239405358965.
