2 arrested during Benton Harbor drug bust

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (WOOD) — Two men were arrested during a drug bust in Benton Harbor last week, police say.

On Thursday, the Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET) executed multiple search warrants between the city of Benton Harbor and Benton Charter Township. During the search, they found 180 grams of fentanyl, 92 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 7 grams of crack cocaine and a semi-automatic pistol.

Two Benton Harbor men, 36 and 35, were arrested and are being held in the Berrien County Jail on charges of possession of dangerous drugs and possession of a firearm. SWET said that they were already on federal probation for narcotics trafficking.

SWET said that southwest Michigan sees twice as many deaths related to drug overdoses compared to crashes each year.

“If you, or someone you know would like to get information about getting substance use treatment, regardless of insurance, please call Southwest Michigan Behavioral Health at 1-800-781-0353,” SWET said in a release.
