UPDATE: 2 arrested on kidnapping, numerous other charges after man found dead in Fayetteville home

Fayetteville police said two people have been arrested after a bizarre incident that left a teenager dead on Tuesday.

Police said a man called police to report that he was being held against his will in a home with about 10 people inside. He told police he had been kidnapped by a criminal organization.

Police responding to the incident on Selwyn Court saw someone in a garage appearing to wave for help.

Police were able to get nine people out of the home, but one remained inside. Police and SWAT teams locked the neighborhood down for around six hours as they attempted to make contact with the person.

SWAT units that went into the home eventually found a man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

He has been identified as 18-year-old Amonte T. Ammons. It’s unclear if he’s the person who called 911 to report that he had been kidnapped.

Police said that Augustus Romain, 36, and Xavier Rushin, 21, have both been arrested on numerous charges including kidnapping, aggravated assault, aggravated sodomy, conspiracy to commit a felony, false imprisonment and criminal street gang activity.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Romain is one of the leaders of an extremist sect known as the Black Hammer Party.

The group describes itself as focused on taking land back for “all colonized people worldwide.”

The group claimed on its website that the man who was found dead at the home served as their “minister of defense” and called his death a “targeted attack.”

Police said the investigation into the incident is still active and further information will be released when available.
