2 arrested for robbing Dollar General in Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – Two men were arrested Tuesday afternoon for robbing a Dollar General store in Murfreesboro.

The Murfreesboro Police Department said the two men robbed the Dollar General on Halls Hill Pike at gunpoint at around 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 30. With help from a license plate recognition camera, officers tracked the getaway car – a white older model Chevrolet Impala – and initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Northfield Boulevard and Memorial Boulevard.

The driver then sped away and crashed into another vehicle on Saddlebrook Drive before coming to a stop at a dead end on Winthrone Drive, according to investigators.

Police said the two men inside the vehicle then got out and ran away. One of them – identified as 33-year-old Tedarreis Thompson – was taken into custody on Winthrone Court. The other, identified as 61-year-old Johnny Cross, was arrested on Freedom Court.

Thompson has been charged with aggravated robbery, assault, interfering with an emergency 911 call, and vandalism. He also had an outstanding warrant for domestic assault. His bond is set at $82,000.

Cross has been charged with aggravated robbery, felony evading, misdemeanor evading, three counts of felony reckless endangerment, and leaving the scene of an accident. His bond is set at $112,000.

Thompson is scheduled to appear in Rutherford County General Sessions Court on June 11 and 18, while Cross has a court date scheduled for June 18.
