2 arrested after Sullivan Co. child porn investigation leads to fentanyl discovery

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) – Two men were arrested in Sullivan County after an investigation into suspected child pornography also led authorities to narcotics and firearms.

According to a news release from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), investigators received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about possible child pornography. The tip and information from the internet service provider led the SCSO to the home of Aaron Witt, 43, of Bristol, Tennessee.

Investigators obtained a warrant to search Witt’s Cant Hook Hill Road home on Thursday. The release states Witt admitted to investigators that he had possessed and uploaded the images from the tip.

During the search, the SCSO reports investigators saw illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia in plain view. A joint investigation began with separate teams and divisions of the SCSO, and a new warrant was obtained for drugs to be seized.

The narcotics seized included the following, according to the sheriff’s office:

  • 8 grams of fentanyl

  • 559 grams of crystal methamphetamine

  • 41 grams of marijuana

  • Gabapentin pills

The sheriff’s office also seized twenty firearms, drug paraphernalia and $6,560 in cash, the release states.

The SCSO reports David Booher, 54, of Bristol, was determined to be responsible for the drugs and weapons.

Sheriff’s Dept. investigating after two bodies found in Greene County

Both Witt and Booher were arrested Thursday and remained in the Sullivan County Jail as of Friday afternoon. A $500,000 bond was set for both of them.

Witt was charged with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. Booher was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony; maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are sold; manufacturing, delivery, sale or possession of methamphetamine; possession of a legend drug; Schedule V drug violations and unlawful drug paraphernalia.
