2 Central Coast locations are among the top U.S. spots to visit this summer, travel site says

Two Central Coast spots are among the top U.S. places to visit this summer, according to an online travel guide.

Travel Lemming ranked Bruce Munro: Light at Sensorio art installation in Paso Robles and Treebones Resort in Big Sur at No. 6 and No. 23, respectively, on its list of 150 best places to visit in the United States in 2023.

Travel Lemming is an online travel guide with more than 10 million annual readers, according to a news release. It publishes guides written by local and expert travelers who have first-hand experience in destinations across the United States and the world.

Each year, Travel Lemming’s team compiles the list with the goal of “highlighting the USA’s many hidden gems,” the release said.

A travel writer on the site describes Sensorio, located at 4380 Highway 46 East, as an “unparalleled immersive experience” — citing the the popular destination’s two light exhibits, food, drinks and live music as “some of the key features.”

Sensorio was originally built by British artist Bruce Munro in 2019. By late 2022, the installation had added 42,000 orbs to its Field of Light exhibit, making it the largest such light installation in the world.

“There is plenty to do while in the area, so a trip to Sensorio means the adventure doesn’t stop there,” Travel Lemming writer Jess Levy said in the release.

The site also recognized Treebones Resort as a Central Coast must-see, describing it as “an oceanside ‘glamping’ resort that features panoramic views, a sushi bar, a hilltop jacuzzi and an organic garden.”

Other notable California destinations on Travel Lemming’s list include Yosemite National Park and Death Valley.
