2 counties in the Sacramento region voting in Nov. 7 election. These races are on the ballot

Some California voters will take part in an off-year election on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Ballots for this election were mailed Oct. 6. Completed ballots can be returned in any ballot drop boxes throughout Sacramento and Yolo counties, and centers for in-person voting will be available Nov. 7.

Here’s what’s on the ballot for some voters in the Sacramento region.

Sacramento County

San Juan Unified School District, Area 7

Two candidates are vying for a new seat in the region’s largest school district.

Voters who live in the incorporated area of Citrus Heights, north of Greenback Lane and southeast of unincorporated Antelope will weigh in on this seat.

Mesa Verde and San Juan High Schools are within the boundaries of this San Juan USD ward.

The term for this seat ends in 2026.

Candidates: Manual I. Perez, a father and commercial driver; Murad “Moe” Sarama, a parent and businessman.

Natomas Unified School District, Area 4

The incumbent for this seat resigned when her family moved out of the area less than five months into a four-year term.

The area covers North Natomas, Creekside, Natomas Creek, Village 7 and Natomas Park. Schools in the area include Heron School and Natomas Middle School.

Six candidates are running for the vacant seat.

Candidates: Monique Hokman, businesswoman and mother; Amir Khan, business owner and parent; Krystal King, early childhood educator; Shahzad “Shawn” Anwar, technologist, realtor and parent; Brenda L. Borge, retired educator; Scott Dosick, business advocate, parent and former board member.

Yolo County

Knights Landing Community Services District

This is a special election for board members who “oversee the community services of water, wastewater, streetlight, parks & recreation, and storm drainage control” to residents in Yolo and Colusa counties,” the district said.

In an at-large election, voters will choose two of three candidates, two of whom are appointed incumbents.

Candidates: Ramon Lomeli and Teresa Conrique Borrego; and challenger Lucila Barcena, a lifeguard.

Placer County

No races.

El Dorado County

No races.

How to vote

In both counties, voting began on Oct. 6 when ballots were mailed, and more information is available on each county elections office’s website.

Voted ballots may be returned in any of the ballot drop boxes located in Sacramento County or Yolo County, respectively.

Vote centers will be open Tuesday, Nov. 7. Sacramento County will have a center open at North Natomas Library and at the Crosswoods Community Center in Citrus Heights. Yolo County will have centers in Knights Landing and Woodland.
