2 dead, 1-year-old injured after fatal crash in eastern Pueblo County

Two people are dead and a 1-year-old child sustained life-threatening injuries after a fatal accident occurred on Jan. 23.

Colorado State Patrol said that at approximately 9:50 a.m. Jan. 23 a crash occurred on US Highway 50 near Pueblo Memorial Airport.

According to CSP, a 2005 Cadilac DeVille was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when it hit a slow-moving semi-truck attempting to turn left onto Colorado 231.

The driver, identified by the Pueblo County Coroner as 29-years-old Jeremy Jaramillo of Pueblo, and the passenger, 31-year-old Brittany Montez of Boone, were both reported dead on scene. The 1-year-old was flown to Children's Hospital in Colorado Springs with life-threatening injuries.

CSP says that the driver and passenger did not have seat belts on and that the 1-year-old was "improperly restrained."

The driver of the semi-truck was reportedly not injured.

Speed, alcohol and drugs are being investigated according to CSP.
