Two people were killed and seven injured early Sunday when a gunman opened fire in a rural South Carolina bar, authorities said.

Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee said it happened at Mac's Lounge, a bar and music venue in Hartsville, a town of 7,600 in Darlington County.

Hardee provided few details, saying the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division was processing the scene. The fate of the shooter was not immediately revealed. Hartsville spokesperson Lauren Baker told wbtw.com that no arrests had been made.

At least four of the injured were being treated at local hospitals, Baker said.

The bar is less than a mile from Coker University, a liberal arts school with about 1,200 students.

Hartsville is about 25 miles northwest of Florence and about 80 miles south of Charlotte, N.C.
