2 dead, officer injured in crash on I-40 in Arkansas

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two people are dead and an Arkansas Highway Police officer injured following a wreck Wednesday morning on Interstate 40 in Arkansas.

According to the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a two-vehicle car crash near the Jennette exit at mile marker 267.

One of the vehicles ran into the back of an Arkansas Highway Police vehicle. Deputies say the officer has been rushed to an area hospital.

ARDOT reports that a vehicle is on fire and eastbound traffic is backed up beginning about 4 miles west of West Memphis. The crash was first reported at 9:40 a.m.
