2 deputies, 4 others taken to area hospitals after early morning crash, SCSO says

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is investigating a crash that sent six people to the hospital.

SCSO deputies were on a traffic stop at about 3:30 a.m. on Saturday on Highway 51 North at the Loosahatchie River.

An SCSO patrol car was struck from behind by another car and six people were injured, officials said.

According to SCSO, two people were taken to Methodist North in critical condition, two people were taken to Regional One Health in critical condition and two SCSO deputies were taken to Regional One in non-critical condition.

The accident is under investigation and Highway 51 northbound is temporarily closed in this area.
