2 former Sioux Falls officers will head to court for child porn charges in the next 2 months

The jury trial for a former Sioux Falls police officer charged with child pornography has been delayed until January.

Matthew Alan Jock, 23, had jury trial set on Monday. The date was reset to Jan. 17 on Monday, according to court documents. The reason for the trial date change is unclear.

Jock was arrested Feb. 16 and charged with five counts of possession, manufacturing and distribution of child porn, according to court documents.

Jock's arrest was made within a week of another former Sioux Falls police officer, Luke John Schauer, 28. Schauer was charged federally with attempted production of child pornography and transfer of obscene materials to minors, according to court documents.

Separate investigations are being conducted into both officers. Authorities have also said there appears to be no local victims in both cases, according to prior Argus Leader reporting.

Jock's charges came out of an investigation from the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation after receiving a tip about Jock's alleged Kik Messenger account, which authorities suspected depicted child porn. Jock's case is being adjudicated within the state level out of Lincoln County.

The federal investigation into Schauer also centered on messages sent via Kik Messenger between Jan. 18 and Feb. 4 to an undercover FBI agent posing as a 12-year-old girl, according to prior Argus Leader reporting. The messages contained graphic images of Schauer's penis and descriptions of "how he would have sex" with the undercover agent, according to court documents.

Schauer faces up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if he is found guilty of the charges. His sentencing date is set for 1 p.m. Dec. 12, according to federal court documents.
