NEW YORK CITY — A pair of high-ranking NYPD officers submitted fake proof of COVID-19 vaccination cards, according to reports.

And officials are investigating whether the cops — Lt. Joseph Marsella and Capt. Desmond Morales — are part of a wider scam within the NYPD, the New York Post first reported.

The city's cops, in addition to all other municipal workers, fall under a strict vaccination-or-no-pay mandate instituted by Mayor Bill de Blasio.

De Blasio has hailed the mandate, and others, as a way to boost vaccinations to protect against the coronavirus. City workers, he noted, are now 94 percent vaccinated.

"We need to end the COVID era and vaccine mandates are the one thing that has proven to actually work," he said recently on "Meet the Press."

NYPD officers had previously been among the most resistant of city workers to the vaccine. But their vaccination numbers went up as the deadline to get the jab approached and passed.

The department is 87 percent vaccinated as of late November, and officials are reviewing roughly 6,000 requests for medical and religious exemptions.

The New York Post reported state Attorney General and FBI investigators are looking into other potential fake vaccination card submissions.
