2 hospitalized after shots fired at Metrolink train

Authorities are searching for a gunman who fired shots at a moving Metrolink train in the Antelope Valley, injuring two people Wednesday evening.

The shooting happened around 9:40 p.m. as the train was departing the Palmdale station and headed for Lancaster, Metrolink told KTLA.

“Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Palmdale Station responded and confirmed a shooting had taken place in the general vicinity, but not on board the train,” the transit agency said.

According to Key News Network, a male passenger suffered a gunshot wound to his leg and was transported to a local hospital.

Another victim suffered an apparent graze wound and was also hospitalized, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s department said.

Video showed deputies examining multiple bullet holes in the side of a passenger car, which Metrolink says was taken out of service.

No description of the gunman was available and the motive for the shooting remains unknown.

The case is being investigated by LASD’s gang unit, a spokesperson said.
