2 injured in 2 Wilmington shootings Tuesday night, teen in critical condition: Police

Two people were shot in just over an hour Tuesday night in Wilmington, according to the Wilmington Police Department.

Police said the first shooting was reported at 7:11 p.m. on the 700 block of N. Tatnall St. in Wilmington's Quaker Hill neighborhood. Police said they found a 45-year-old man, who was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

A man who identified himself as the manager of Libby's Restaurant at North Tatnall Street and West Eighth Street said he found a bullet hole in the business' front door Wednesday morning. He said no one notified him about the shooting damage.

At 8:36 p.m., Wilmington police said they were called to the 1100 block of Anchorage St. in Browntown for the shooting of a 17-year-old. The teenager was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to police.

This is the 16th juvenile to be wounded in Wilmington this year. The majority of these shootings spiked in early June.

Since June 5, there have been 11 juveniles shot in Wilmington, the youngest of which was only 6 years old.

There have been 64 people shot, eight fatally, this year in Wilmington. That's about 25% fewer people shot than the previous year at the same time. At this time last year, 85 people had been shot in Wilmington — 16 of them fatally.
