2 injured at a Chesterfield Township Kroger Distribution Center
Two workers were injured in a Tuesday afternoon at a Kroger Distribution Center in Chesterfield Township when a semi-truck collapsed.
Chesterfield Township police, fire and MedStar ambulance were dispatched shortly after noon Tuesday to the distribution center on 23 Mile Road west of Gratiot Avenue, according to a news release posted on the police department's website.
At the scene, first responders located a 22-year-old resident of Davison with serious chest injuries and a 25-year-old Clay Township resident with a serious leg injury.

“They had been working under a semi-truck box trailer when supports gave way, crashing down on them,” the police said.
Another worker from Lapeer, who was uninjured, provided aid to the injured.
Both workers were transported to an area hospital and were in stable condition, the police said.
In an emailed statement to the Free Press, Cam Barrett, a spokesman for the Kroger Co. of Michigan, wrote:
“We are deeply saddened to hear about the accident at our distribution center in Chesterfield, Michigan, involving two third-party associates,” said Barrett. “Our teams are currently investigating the cause of the accident and are closely monitoring the condition of both individuals.”
Third-party associates, according to Kroger, do not work directly for the company. The Chesterfield Township Kroger Distribution Center is one of Kroger's two distribution centers in Michigan, along with one in Romulus.
