2 injured in daytime, drive-by shooting in Hartford

Zach Murdock, Hartford Courant

Two people were injured in an apparent drive-by shooting in broad daylight Thursday afternoon outside a Hartford home.

Both victims were alert and conscious when emergency personnel arrived at the scene and both were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Lt. Aaron Boisvert said about an hour later.

Police were first notified of the incident by an activation of the department’s ShotSpotter gunshot detection system on Chandler Street in the Behind the Rocks neighborhood near New Britain Avenue, Boisvert said.

Both of the victims were found outside the home at 222 Chandler St. and information gleaned from the scene led investigators to believe the shots were fired from a passing vehicle, Boisvert said.

Crime scene detectives remained on the scene into the late afternoon.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the police tip line at 860-722-8477.
