2 injured in drive-by shooting in Garfield Park

CHICAGO — Two people were hospitalized on Saturday afternoon after they were injured in a drive-by shooting on the city’s West Side.

According to Chicago police, the shooting unfolded just before 4 p.m. in the 2800 block of West Polk Street, in Garfield Park.

Officers say a 65-year-old woman and a 67-year-old man were walking along a sidewalk in the area when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire.

Both victims were hit by the gunfire. Police say the woman suffered a gunshot wound to her arm and the man was shot in the left leg.

Both victims drove themselves to the hospital and police say they were listed in good condition.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting and authorities say an investigation is underway.

Officers did not provide a description of the vehicle or individual involved.
