2 killed, firefighter injured in blaze in Wilkinsburg

Oct. 29—Two people were killed early Saturday morning after a fire trapped them in a Wilkinsburg home, police said.

Crews responded to the 500 block of Shelbourne Avenue around 1:40 a.m. where they learned both people were still on the second floor, said Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesman Maurice Matthews. Fire officials entered the home and found them unconscious.

Both people, who have not yet been identified, were taken to the hospital where they died.

A Pittsburgh firefighter was injured from a fall. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating.
