2 killed when house under construction collapses during storm, Texas officials say

As storms rolled in, an unfinished house collapsed on workers, killing two, Texas officials told news outlets.

The home under construction, near Conroe, fell around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, the Associated Press reported.

Though officials haven’t said what they believe caused the collapse, severe weather was in the area, the outlet reported.

Conroe and the surrounding area was under a tornado warning until 3:45 p.m., according to the City of Conroe.

The house was part of the new Ladera Creek Trace subdivision, fire department officials told KPRC.

Construction of the two-story home was in the framing phase, and the workers inside were buried under piles of lumber when the structure gave out, KHOU reported.

Seven people were injured, all of whom were on the second floor, according to the outlet.

Conroe is roughly 40 miles north of downtown Houston.
