2 killed in motorcycle crash on State Road 70 in Bradenton, Florida Highway Patrol says

Two people were killed in a motorcycle crash in Bradenton, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to an FHP new release on Saturday, the crash happened at 9:44 p.m. Friday on State Road 70 near Interstate 75.

Two people, a man and a woman from Bradenton, were on the motorcycle traveling west on State Road 70 and approaching I-75, when the driver of an SUV went in front of them going slower.

Troopers said that the man driving the motorcycle, a 25-year-old from Bradenton, braked to avoid crashing into the SUV ahead of them. The motorcycle then flipped on its side and hit the rear of the SUV.

The driver and his passenger, a 22-year-old woman from Bradenton, were thrown from the motorcycle.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he later died. The passenger died on the road, FHP said.

The driver of the SUV was a 77-year-old woman from Bradenton. Her passenger was a 79-year-old man from Bradenton. Neither of them suffered injuries in the crash.

FHP did not immediately release the names of the dead or the SUV driver and passenger, and did not release information on pending charges as the investigation continues.
