2 men arrested in connection to burglary/attempted homicide in Herkimer

The Herkimer Police Department made two arrests in connection with an attempted homicide last November, according to a statement released Tuesday.

The arrests stem from a shooting at 200 Prospect St. at about 10:30 p.m. Nov. 27. Officers were directed to an apartment where a victim was found with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and underwent emergency surgery.

Following an investigation, Herkimer police said they arrested Tyler Kuntzsch, 32, of Fort Plain and Sabri Spencer, 18, of Ilion.

Kuntzsch is charged with second-degree burglary and first-degree assault. He was arraigned and sent to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

Spencer was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree burglary and reckless endangerment. He was arraigned and sent to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility on $250,000 cash bail or $500,000 bond.

Herkimer police were assisted by the Herkimer County District Attorney’s Office, Ilion Police Department and Fort Plain Police Department.
