2 men nearly electrocuted when semi contacts power line

AMBOY TWP. — Two men from Toledo, Ohio, were electrically shocked when their tractor-trailer came into contact with a live power line early Friday morning near an Amish farm in Amboy Township.

The Woodbridge Township Fire Department and EMS were dispatched to Austin Road near Carpenter Road for a reported electrocution. Firefighters arrived on scene to find the tractor-trailer on fire and both men miraculously uninjured.

The men were attempting to dump a load of sludge in the corner of a field near an Amish farm and when they raised their hydraulic trailer, it came into contact with an overhead line that eventually broke, falling to the ground and causing flames to consume the truck.

Both 500 gallon diesel fuel tanks on the truck ruptured and mutual aid was called in from the Camden Fire Department for tankers and the Fremont Fire Department for foam.

The truck was a total loss in the fire and neither of the men sought further medical treatment.
