$2 million Powerball ticket sold in New Jersey as jackpot climbs to $386 million

A New Jersey lottery player won $2 million in Monday night's Powerball as the jackpot continued to climb.

One ticket sold in Hudson County matched all five white balls and had the Power Play, while a ticket sold in Flushing, New York won $1 million, according according to the Powerball website.

The $2 million ticket was at Gary’s Sweet Shoppe on West Side Avenue in Jersey City, according to the New Jersey Lottery. In addition, lottery players in New Jersey won about in $133,822 in prizes from $4 to $200.

The Powerball winning numbers for Monday, Aug. 28, 2023 were: 4 - 6 - 25 - 55 - 68 and Powerball 26. The Powerplay was 2x.

Powerball jackpot hits $386 million

No one won the jackpot on Monday so the grand prize will increase to an estimated $386 million for Wednesday night's drawing. The cash option will be $185.8 million.

The jackpot was last won on July 19 when a lottery player in California won the $1.08 billion jackpot - the third largest Powerball ever.

How do I play Powerball?

The cost is $2 per ticket, but you can add the Power Play for $1, which will increase the amount of your potential prize up to five times the original prize (except for the jackpot and Match 5). There is also a 10x Power Play possibility when the jackpot is less than $150 million.

Each player selects five numbers from 1 to 69 for the white balls and one number from 1 to 26 for the red Powerball. However, you can also have the lottery machine generate a quick pick ticket with random numbers for you.
