2 minors responsible for false bomb threat at Georgia Walmart, authorities say

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office say two minors are responsible for calling in a bomb threat to a Walmart on Saturday.

Deputies arrived at the Walmart at 1455 US-441 South at 7:10 p.m. after an unknown caller told employees that there was a bomb outside the store.

Walmart employees told officers that the unknown person called the customer service department that night and said, “There’s a grade (unknown) missile system outside of the store.”

Deputies said that after receiving the call, the employee told her supervisor about the call and provided his phone number.

When authorities, fire and EMS crews arrived, they evacuated the store. Crews searched the area and confirmed that there was no threat and that it was safe.

RCSO officials said on Tuesday that the two minors responsible are from Habersham County. Their identities will not be released due to their age. Authorities have not said what the charges are for the two minors.

This was the second bomb threat a major retailer received within a week in north Georgia after a bomb threat was called into a Brookhaven Target on Sunday.
