2 More Die Of Coronavirus In Wilco, 15 Deaths In 2 Weeks

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — For the fourth straight day, Williamson County officials have reported more deaths blamed on the coronavirus. On Thursday, two more fatalities were reported, bringing the historical death count from respiratory illness to 50.

The latest victims of the scourge were a man in his 50s and another in his 70s. Health officials are precluded from providing further identifying details in adherence to patient privacy laws.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the residents who have lost their lives due to COVID-19. In response to the somber news, we should stand as a family and protect each other from further spreading this deadly virus," Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell said in a prepared statement. "Try to avoid unnecessary travel and exposure, especially if you have a loved one who is considered part of the vulnerable population and can develop complications."

The reach of coronavirus has been particularly lethal in Williamson County for the past two weeks. The latest deaths come one day after two men in their 70s succumbed to the illness in Williamson County. A man in his 90s was reported to have died from the illness on Tuesday, preceded by the deaths of three more people on Monday. On June 30, two women in their 50s and 80s were reported to have died of the illness. Last Monday, two more patients — men in their 40s and 80s — succumbed to the virus preceded the previous Sunday by a man in his 40s and days before that by the deaths of two elderly patients.

The upshot: 15 people have died in the span of two weeks in Williamson County, felled by the seemingly strenghtened virus.
