Troopers release photo of car in hit-and-run crash that killed 2-year-old
Troopers have identified a car believed to be connected to a hit-and-run crash that killed a 2-year-old in Cabarrus County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The child was hit on NC Highway 73 near Fitzgerald Street Northwest before 11 p.m. on Aug. 12 after running into the eastbound lane, troopers said. The driver who hit the toddler left the scene after the crash.
Highway patrol said it is looking for a white, mid-sized sedan, possibly a 2020 to 2022 Toyota Corolla, with significant damage to the hood of the car.
The crash happened near the Moss Creek community in Concord and the driver left the scene headed east, troopers said.
“It is just a stark reminder that things like this can happen,” Trooper Raymond Pierce said. “Unfortunately, it can happen in an instant and it shows you how precious life is.”

Previously, investigators believed the suspect was driving a black or dark-colored, four-door sedan that may have signs of damage.
