2 Red Wing men injured in Sunday crash

Oct. 2—RED WING, Minn. — Two people were injured following a crash on U.S. Highway 61 in Red Wing on Sunday evening, Oct. 1, 2023.

A 2018 Ford Focus was traveling north on Highway 61 and a 2015 Ford Explorer was traveling south on the highway when the two vehicles collided at the Bench Street intersection, according to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report.

The Focus driver, 44-year-old Wayne Edward Johnson, and his passenger, 39-year-old Quentin Currie, had non-life threatening injuries. Both Red Wing men were transported to Mayo Clinic Health System Red Wing.

The Explorer driver, 61-year-old Mary Ann Cahoon, and her passenger, 64-year-old Perry Walter Cahoon of McGregor, Iowa, were not injured in the crash, according to the report.

The Red Wing Police Department and Red Wing Fire Department also responded to the crash.
