2 restaurants failed, roaches observed in latest Dallas health inspections

Two restaurants failed and 16 required follow-ups in the latest Dallas health inspections, according to city data.

There were 653 inspections from Aug. 15 to Oct. 14.

Dallas inspections are based on a 100-point system. A score of 100 is perfect and a score of 70 is considered to be extremely poor. Scores below 80 require another inspection and scores below 60 require closure and an inspection before reopening.

La Poblanita at 7800 Spring Valley Road received a failing score of 65. Roaches were observed at the restaurant, but received a 77 in a follow-up inspection. JTC Bless Import at 9220 Skillman Street received a failing score of 67, but scored an 87 in its follow-up.

Fourteen restaurants scored between 70 and 79:

  • La Michoacana/Taqueria at 8702 Spring Valley Road, 73

  • Fsk Food Mart at 10969 North Stemmons Freeway, 74

  • Hong Kong Che at 9780 Walnut Street, 74

  • Mercat Restaurant at 2501 North Harwood Street, 74

  • Cashsaver Produce at 2130 East Ledbetter Drive, 75

  • Dallas Diner Donuts at 10515 East Northwest Highway, 76

  • Rice Xpress at 5859 Samuel Boulevard, 76

  • Wings World at 2310 Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, 76

  • Catering by Chef Richard at 5214 Botham Jean Boulevard, 77

  • Grandy’s at 8228 East R.L. Thornton Freeway, 77

  • La Poblanita at 7800 Spring Valley Road, 77

  • Thai Express at 13350 Dallas Parkway, 78

  • Campisi’s Pizza at 7632 Campbell Road, 79

  • Cashsaver Bakery at 2130 East Ledbetter Drive, 79

Restaurants that score anywhere from 70 to 79 pass but require another inspection.

  • Loncheria Cerveria ‘El Pa at 408 West Jefferson Boulevard, 80

  • Rice Xpress at 5859 Samuel Boulevard, 86

  • SVKP Enterprises LLC at 2350 Walnut Hill Lane, 81

  • Taqueria El Trompito at 1731 South Buckner Boulevard, 80

Rodent droppings were seen at Rice Xpress and at Louisina Famous Fried Chicken at 124 South Carroll Avenue.

Roaches were also observed at:

  • Forest West at 8233 Military Parkway, 81

  • Fruteria Mendez at 10788 Harry Hines Boulevard, 81

  • Cock & Bull Bar & Restaurant at 6330 Gaston Avenue, 88

  • Skillman Wok at 9780 LBJ Freeway, 88

  • El Rio Grande (Juice Bar & Kitchen), 97
